Beloved award-winning Brisbane Celtic-Rock ensemble Murphy’s Pigs are armed and ready to present their two-hour-plus show at the Fortitude Music Hall on Saturday, March 20, featuring their Celtic dancers, The Piglets. The show will also include a very special guest appearance by none other than the “Angel Of Australia” and one of the most sought after sopranos in the world, Brisbane's own Mirusia.
Murphy’s Pigs are a 16-piece outfit, comprising bagpipes, fiddle, whistles, drums, accordion, guitars, bouzouki, and their troupe of award-winning Celtic dancers, who have been entertaining and winning over Brisbane audiences for over 14 years. Their performances are characterized by absolute irreverence, plenty of false starts and the resultant hilarious repartee, all wrapped up in truly sublime musicianship.
Murphy’s Pigs has graced some big stages including the world’s largest Celtic Festival “Festival Interceltique de Lorient” in France (twice), and have twice been awarded ‘Artist of the Year’ at the Australian Celtic Music Awards.
Mirusia has been touring the world as the principle singer with famed violinist Andrè Rieu. With multiple ARIA Charting albums, glowing accolades from critics and fans alike, and an impressive global touring resume to boot, Mirusia is excited to join as an honourable Murphy’s Pig if even for just a few Celtic favourites in the set.
The show coincides with St Patty’s week, it will be a great craic.
