Alan Jones has reflected on his own brief singing career while being joined in-studio by Australian music royalty.

Athol Guy, who rose to fame in The Seekers, has joined forces with Mirusia, one of the country’s most famous sopranos, for an upcoming tour that pays tribute to the legendary Aussie band.

But it turns out they have something very special in common with Alan Jones.

All three have performed with violinist Andre Rieu, including Alan, who joined him on stage in Sydney to sing The Seekers’ hit I Am Australian in 2009.

“It was a splendid success,” laughs Alan. “They called for encores!”

"Mimma Marini, played by the soprano-darling of Andre Rieu fame, Mirusia Louwerse, was the true embodiment of an independent, head-strong Italian journalist. Her acting and accent were impeccable and her voice like the nightingale referred to in the show – sweet, yet rich and full bodied. I was impressed by the depth and commitment to character and, as testament to the true actress in her, mesmerised by her story." -Leigh Andrew Hill, OUTinPerth

"Mirusia Louwerse shines as Mimma – from the moment she glides down the stairs to delighting in the wonders of London and showing strength and compassion in hardship, Louwerse is a shining light – a beacon of hope and goodness in the world. Her voice is clear and bright and the character of Mimma will charm even the hardest of hearts." -Laura Money, The Fourth Wall

"Louwerse, in particular, was a true delight to witness in what is a very different role for her." - Jessie Stoelwinder, The West Australian

"Much of the advertising has centred on the star billing of Mirusia Louwerse, who plays the title role of Mimma Marini. Mirusia sings gorgeously and anchors the show with grace, forming a wonderful relationship with Holly Meegan who is stunning as Sarah Parker, the other leading role in this production. Great to see a show that celebrates female friendship." -Kimberley Shaw, Stage Whispers

"It’s refreshing to see a new work that champions women who have men in their lives but who are never defined in relation to them. The casting of these two characters, then, is vital to the success of the production and fortunately Louwerse and Meegan delivered as Mimma and Sarah respectively. Accomplished soprano Louwerse displayed her vocal dexterity brilliantly in the second act." -Claire Trolio, Seesaw

OUT IN PERTH: The Regal Theatre Subiaco will be the host to the West Australian production of the new musical, Mimma: A musical of war and friendship, from Orana Productions, with the season running from April 9 -21, 2019. READ MORE
